Frequently Asked Questions

What is InDesign used for?

Adobe InDesign is professional software used for page layout and desktop publishing. It is widely used to create brochures, magazines, books, reports, posters, portfolios and interactive PDFs for print and digital.

Is InDesign suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. Our InDesign training includes options for complete beginners as well as intermediate and advanced users. Beginners start with the interface, frames, text and images, and progress to master pages, styles and professional print-ready layouts.

No previous experience is required for beginner-level training. If you already use InDesign, your training can focus on the areas you want to improve rather than starting from the beginning. LDTC training is personalised and project-focused.

Do I need previous design or layout experience?

What will I learn on an InDesign course?

Depending on the course you choose, you can learn page setup, frames, text formatting, paragraph and character styles, master pages, image placement, tables, colour swatches, multi-page documents and exporting print-ready and interactive PDFs.

Can I use InDesign with Photoshop and Illustrator?

Yes. InDesign works seamlessly with Photoshop and Illustrator, so you can place images, graphics and logos created in other Adobe apps.

Can I learn InDesign on a Mac?

Yes. InDesign runs on both Windows and macOS, and LDTC offers a dedicated InDesign for Mac course. For in-person training, suitable computers are provided at the training centre. For live online training, you will be able to access control to our screen and use the software at the same time as us.
